Join us for Wesley Day 2010 - 23rd May 2010 - Preacher Revd. Paul Smith with the White River Gospel Choir for afternoon service and evening service.
Wesley Day Celebrations are held in May each year to mark John Wesley's Conversion on 24th May 1738. The account of his conversion experience can be found in his Journal.
"I went very unwillingly to a Society in Aldersgate Street where one was reading about Luther's preface to The Epistle to the Romans. About a quarter before nine whilst he was describing the change which God works in the heart through faith in Christ, I felt my heart strangely warmed. I felt I did trust in Christ, Christ alone for salvation, and an assurance was given me that He had taken away my sins, even mine."
May 24th 2009 saw 65-70 gathering for the afternoon Open Air Celebration. The Rev Steve Wild
(Cornwall District Chairman), led the service; while Rev Elizabeth Rundle was our Guest Speaker. After the service everyone moved from the Museum to Altarnun for tea in the Village Hall.
The day concluded with Community Hymn Singing at Central Methodist Church, Launceston, led by Mr Neil Burden. The Evening Celebration was led by Rev Margaret Oxenham and our Guest Speaker again was Rev Elizabeth Rundle.
The Extract from John Wesley`s Journal for May 24th 1783 was read this year by Lloyd Duke.
Our next Wesley Day Celebrations will be on May 23rd 2010.
