Launceston Refugee Support Group – Can you help?
The Launceston Refugee Support Group (LRSG) is made up of local people getting together to take action in support of refugees. The group has been formed by people affected by the desperate situation of refugees but also inspired by the success of the Bude Refugee Support Group.

The group’s aim is to work towards welcoming two Syrian families to Launceston, as part of the government’s pledge to resettle some of the most vulnerable Syrian refugees in the UK. Several families from Syria have already been settled successfully in Truro and Bude. Cornwall is taking a lead in showing compassion and hospitality.

Leaflets outlining the aims of the group and details of how you can donate are available to download here. There is an option also to increase your giving at no cost through the Gift Aid scheme. Please take one and time to read about the work and consider if you are able to support this crucial work.

Market Stall in the Square
We regularly have a market stallin the square on Saturdays. If you can spare an hour to help on the stall please contact Georgy on georgybellem@yahoo.co.uk – 07966 882246. Even if you aren’t able to spend time on the stall (it is very easy and people quite friendly and interested to find out more) then do drop by and say Hi if you are in town.

Funding Appeal:
We still need to raise funds – especially since Cornwall have now indicated that they would like to place more than one family with us before the scheme expires next year. This would mean we would have to more than double our current total over the coming months… Please consider making a regular monthly donation – even if it is very small a regular income really helps.
You can now make a one-off or set up a regular donation online. https://mydonate.bt.com/donation/v4/chooseAmount.html?charity=196956 or find the link on our website at www.lrsg.org.uk/donate
